Grand Prix Commission announces new MotoGP and Moto2 regulations

The Grand Prix Commission, representing the FIM, MotoGP, and various manufacturer and team associations, has announced several regulatory changes for the MotoGP, Moto2, and Moto3 classes.

A primary safety measure involves banning practice starts from the pitlane exit at all circuits, effective immediately starting with the Japanese Grand Prix at Motegi. These exercises will now be restricted to dedicated time windows following Friday free practice sessions.

In the MotoGP class, the 20,000 RPM limit currently coded into the ECU software will be formally written into the official regulations to ensure clarity.

For the Moto2 class, significant changes are planned for 2027 following the introduction of a new Triumph engine specification. Due to the development of new chassis required for this engine, all Moto2 teams will begin the 2027 season without concessions, with rankings to be revised mid-season. Additionally, the transition to 100% non-fossil fuels for Moto2 and Moto3 has been scheduled for the 2028 season.
