Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève announces 2026 award changes

The Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) has announced significant changes for its 26th edition in 2026. To better reflect evolving market dynamics and purchasing behaviors, the organization is removing traditional gender-based categories, such as Men’s and Ladies’, replacing them with technical categories: Essential Watch and Complication Watch.

For the upcoming awards, 84 timepieces will compete across 14 categories for 19 prizes. The winners will be announced during a ceremony in Geneva on Saturday, November 7. The top honor, the ‘Aiguille d'Or’ Grand Prix, remains open to all entries. A new category, Gemset, will also be introduced to recognize watches set with up to six carats of gemstones.

A jury of experts, including watchmakers, collectors, and journalists, will select the winners. Notable nominees include a Moscow-based workshop, a wearable solar system, and a 10-kilogram clock designed to wind watches during sleep.
