Grand Slam tournaments announce new Player Advisory Council

The four Grand Slam tournaments—the Australian Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the US Open—have announced the formation of the Grand Slam Player Advisory Council. The new body is designed to create a direct channel for communication, feedback, and collaboration between professional players and the sport’s major tournament organizers.

The council is scheduled to launch following the 2026 US Open. Its framework and operating structure are currently being developed with player input, and interested athletes will be invited to apply for positions. The council will address a broad range of sporting matters affecting the Grand Slams collectively, while specific issues regarding player welfare and compensation will be discussed with individual tournaments due to their unique governance and economic structures.

Key topics for the council include prize money, revenue sharing, and player welfare. American tennis players Ben Shelton and Jessica Pegula have expressed support for the initiative. Shelton noted that having a seat at the table provides players a real opportunity to help shape the tournaments beyond on-court competition.
