Grand Teton National Park reports seasonal closures and visitation shifts
Grand Teton National Park is experiencing seasonal shifts in both visitor access and attendance numbers. As of late 2026, several key facilities have closed for the season, including the Colter Bay, Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve, and Jenny Lake visitor centers. The Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitor Center in Moose is scheduled to close on October 31, 2026, leaving fewer in-person orientation options for travelers in the late fall.
Regarding visitation trends, the National Park Service reported that September 2026 saw 567,326 recreation visits, an 8.2% decrease compared to September 2025. Despite this monthly dip, the total year-to-date visitation through September stands at 3,358,701, which is a 1.5% decrease from the same period in 2025 and approximately 5% lower than the record-breaking levels seen in 2021.
