Take-Two Interactive seeks subpoenas to identify Grand Theft Auto 6 leaker
Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, has initiated legal action to identify the individual or group known as ‘CyberLeek’ following a series of high-profile Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay leaks. The company has filed subpoenas in the Southern District of New York targeting Microsoft, Discord, Google, and X Corp to obtain user data, including account IDs, IP addresses, phone numbers, and OneDrive content.
Discord has clarified that it has not yet been formally served with a subpoena, though Take-Two’s requests include extensive identifying information for users on specific servers. The leaks have included various materials, such as in-game maps, character footage, and a video featuring a ‘nudist town’ area.
In response to the leaks, the CyberLeek persona has issued unconventional demands, including a request for fans to protest at Rockstar offices while dressed as leeks to secure further content releases. Meanwhile, security researchers warn that cybercriminals are exploiting the situation by distributing malware disguised as GTA VI demos. Rockstar Games is scheduled to provide an ‘Extended Look’ at the title via Netflix on August 27, 2026.
