Grand Theft Auto 6 fuels fan contract craze and sparks Russian political criticism
Ahead of its November 19 launch, a Polish couple posted a fabricated contract on Reddit that gave a boyfriend unrestricted access to Grand Theft Auto 6 for a week while imposing bizarre restrictions on his partner, such as bans on commenting about his performance and limits on affection tied to in‑game progress. The post, later removed, was widely mocked as a joke.
Russian State Duma deputy Vitaliy Milonov publicly denounced Grand Theft Auto 6, describing the series as “deviant” and “saturated with American‑style violence.” He warned that the game’s depiction of crime, sex and drugs reflects a harmful “American smell” and noted that the title may be excluded from release in Russia. Milonov added that he does not expect the game to influence Russian citizens.
The two stories illustrate the cultural buzz surrounding the highly anticipated title, which has already sparked both fan‑driven memes in Poland and political commentary in Russia.
