Grand Theft Auto VI: New details on development and marketing

New details regarding Rockstar Games’ upcoming title, Grand Theft Auto VI, have emerged through various leaks, developer interviews, and official documents.

Development insights reveal that the game’s world, centered around Vice City and the state of Leonida, was constructed before the narrative was finalized. Developers aim to create deeper emotional connections between protagonists Jason and Lucia, drawing inspiration from the character depth seen in Red Dead Redemption 2. Gameplay details suggest a potential fog mechanic that clears as players explore, and a day-night cycle that may be significantly longer than previous entries, with some estimates suggesting a 144-minute cycle.

Marketing efforts are also scaling up, with official construction documents from Miami-Dade County revealing a massive advertising campaign. This includes a 430-square-meter, 9.5-ton steel installation of the Vice City logo and GTA VI branding to be placed atop the Kaseya Center via helicopter. Additionally, musical artists including Travis Scott, Keith Richards, and Future have shared social media posts hinting at their potential involvement in the game’s soundtrack or world.
