Grand Theft Auto VI: New details on Leonida, weather, and gameplay

Rockstar Games is ramping up marketing for Grand Theft Auto VI, which is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Game Informer has announced a massive 14-page cover story for its 382nd issue, featuring exclusive interviews with lead designers and 12 new screenshots.

The upcoming feature provides deep insights into the game's setting, the fictional state of Leonida (a parody of Florida), and Vice City. Key technical details revealed include an advanced weather system designed to simulate diverse atmospheric phenomena beyond just sunny weather, and a highly detailed ecosystem featuring a wide variety of land, air, and sea wildlife.

Regarding gameplay, Rockstar has clarified that while players can switch between protagonists Jason and Lucia in the open world, story missions will feature restricted control over character switching to maintain narrative structure. Additionally, the game's soundtrack is set to include 34 tracks, featuring artists such as Travis Scott and Keith Richards. While some reports suggest pre-orders are heavily leaning toward PlayStation 5, Xbox executives claim their pre-order performance is hitting record levels.
