GTA 6 preorders launch as Microsoft raises Xbox prices ahead of release

Microsoft announced a historic price hike for its Xbox Series X and Series S consoles, adding roughly €50‑€100 to the Series X and €20‑€50 to the Series S in Europe and North America. The increase comes just before the highly anticipated launch of Grand Theft Auto VI.

Rockstar Games opened GTA 6 pre‑orders on 25 June 2026. The standard edition is priced at €79.99, while the Ultimate Edition costs €99.99. French retailers such as Amazon, E. Leclerc and Auchan offered early discounts, selling the standard game for about €60 and the Ultimate Edition for €80. All physical copies will contain a digital download code rather than a disc, and pre‑loading of the game will start on 12 November 2026.

Separately, Rockstar released 65 new screenshots that Digital Foundry says exceed the visual capabilities of current‑gen consoles (PS5, Xbox Series X). The media suggests the images may come from PC or a future‑gen platform, noting 4K‑native resolution and advanced ray‑tracing effects not achievable on existing hardware.
