Grande ABC municipal schools exceed national connectivity averages
In the Grande ABC region of Brazil, municipal schools demonstrate internet connectivity levels above the national average. According to data from the Ministry of Education's Connected Schools Indicator (Inec), 86.6% of municipal units in the region have adequate connection parameters, surpassing the national average for municipal institutions.
In contrast, state-run schools in the same region face connectivity challenges. The report indicates that 53.2% of state school facilities were rated as having inadequate parameters regarding electricity access, internet speed, and Wi-Fi distribution. This stands in contrast to the national average for state schools, which was recorded at 72.9% adequacy.
The State Secretariat of Education (Seduc) disputed the findings, asserting that the provided internet speed meets pedagogical needs. Seduc stated that all regular schools in Grande ABC have at least one 100 Mbps Wi-Fi link in pedagogical environments and noted that R$ 340 million has been invested in technological infrastructure across the state between 2023 and 2025.
