Grande ABC region proposes Brazil's first regional Casa da Mulher Brasileira

The Consórcio Intermunicipal Grande ABC is discussing a project with the Brazilian Federal Government to implement the first regional Casa da Mulher Brasileira in the country. This facility is designed to provide integrated services for women experiencing violence, including social, psychological, and legal support, as well as temporary housing and financial autonomy training.

The city of Santo André has proposed a specific site for the project located in the Paraíso neighborhood, near Praça Kantal Yasbek. National Secretary for Combating Violence Against Women, Estela Bezerra, conducted a technical inspection of the area and expressed positive feedback regarding its strategic location.

While the federal government has committed to providing technical assistance and resources, the final decision regarding the specific location will be deliberated among the municipalities that comprise the Grande ABC Consortium. The initiative aims to serve as a regional model for other parts of Brazil.
