Grande ABC supermarket sector projected to reach R$ 22.3 billion by 2026
The Apas Experience event was held in São Caetano to discuss the supermarket sector in the Grande ABC region. The region, which includes 1,513 establishments and over 36,000 formal jobs, is projected to generate R$ 22.3 billion in revenue by 2026, representing a 1.7% increase.
Industry leaders addressed challenges such as changing consumer behavior and labor shortages. Adevaldo Ramos Moitinho, CEO of Frates Supermercado, noted that finding staff willing to work traditional retail schedules, including weekends and holidays, remains a significant difficulty for entrepreneurs.
Michael Fialho, regional director of Apas, highlighted the region's economic strength, noting that while traditionally industrial, the retail sector is growing steadily across all seven municipalities. The event also served as a networking platform for suppliers and specialists to discuss technological advances and market trends.
