Virginia Fonseca leaves Grande Rio drum queen role

Influencer Virginia Fonseca has announced her departure from the position of drum section queen (Rainha de Bateria) for the Acadêmicos do Grande Rio samba school. Fonseca cited the need to prioritize her children, her businesses, and a more balanced routine, including spending more time in Madrid with her partner, footballer Vini Jr.

The decision has triggered several developments. Fonseca announced her intention to pursue legal action against journalist Leo Dias following his vulgar comments regarding her personal life and the reasons for her departure. Dias has since publicly apologized, admitting he “passed the limit” during his broadcast.

In the wake of her exit, the Grande Rio samba school is reportedly focusing on bringing back actress Paolla Oliveira to the role for the 2027 Carnival. While other figures like Cariúcha have expressed interest, the school's leadership remains focused on Oliveira, despite her signaling that a return may be difficult at this time.
