Grander Katenschinken recalled in Germany over Listeria contamination

Grander Katenschinken GmbH has issued a recall of its diced Katenschinken ham sold in Hamburg and Schleswig‑Holstein after laboratory tests detected Listeria bacteria. The affected batches (0826) carry best‑before dates of 3 August, 7 August and 14 August 2026 and were available at retailers such as REWE.

Listeria can cause mild flu‑like symptoms in healthy adults but may lead to severe listeriosis in people with weakened immune systems, pregnant women, the elderly and infants. Complications can include meningitis, bloodstream infection and, in up to 30 % of severe cases, death. Pregnant women also face a risk of miscarriage or birth defects.

Consumers are advised not to eat the product and to return it to the point of purchase for a full refund, even without a receipt.
