Agostina Vega femicide investigation intensifies in Córdoba

The murder of 14‑year‑old Agostina Vega in Córdoba, Argentina, remains at the centre of a growing investigation. Claudio Gabriel Barrelier, 33, is the principal suspect for the femicide, while a second suspect, 47‑year‑old Osvaldo Miguel Fassetta, was detained on accusations of aggravated concealment. Prosecutors are probing whether Fassetta participated in the crime or assisted in covering it up, including a phone call to the family that the victim’s grandmother identified as his voice.

The case has also taken a personal toll on Agostina’s family. Her grandfather, Miguel Heredia, was hospitalized after a stress‑related cardiac decompensation and released with advice to reduce stress, stating, “Vamos a tratar de estar bien porque la lucha continúa y no voy a parar.” Her daughter, Melisa Heredia, remains in intensive care after a severe decompensation. The family continues public appeals for justice, demanding that all responsible parties be brought to trial. Ongoing forensic work includes blood traces found under the victim’s nails and on a blanket, which may link the suspect to the assault.

Authorities continue to collect genetic evidence and examine inconsistencies in testimonies as the judicial process progresses.
