Grandola ed Uniti waste center workers announce overtime strike

Workers at the Grandola ed Uniti waste services center have proclaimed an overtime strike running from September 1 to September 9, 2026. The mobilization follows unsuccessful conciliation attempts at the Prefecture of Como.

The strike, organized by the unions FP CGIL Como, FIT CISL dei Laghi, and UIL Trasporti Lario e Brianza, focuses on unresolved issues regarding work schedules, break management, and the excessive reliance on overtime. Unions argue that the current organizational structure is unsustainable and relies too heavily on worker availability to compensate for planning deficiencies.

While ordinary service activities will continue, the block on overtime may lead to service disruptions. The unions have formally notified the involved municipalities to ensure transparency regarding potential impacts on service continuity for citizens.
