Grandparents proposed to attend school assemblies in Italy
Two Italian associations, ANLA (Associazione Nazionale Lavoratori Anziani) and Nonni 2.0, have submitted a proposal to the Minister of Education and Merit, Giuseppe Valditara, regarding the participation of grandparents in school life.
The proposal requests that grandparents be permitted to attend class assemblies to represent the family in instances where parents are unable to attend. To ensure this does not replace the educational role of parents, the associations specify that participation would only be allowed with a formal delegation signed by both parents.
Proponents argue the measure would provide greater flexibility for working parents and increase overall school engagement by allowing more family members to stay informed about their children's education.
