Granfondo Serra d’Ossa attracts 1,700 cyclists to Alentejo

The fourth edition of the Granfondo Serra d’Ossa took place on Sunday, October 4, drawing approximately 1,500 to 1,700 cyclists to the Alentejo region in Portugal. The event connected five municipalities: Alandroal, Vila Viçosa, Borba, Estremoz, and Redondo.

Participants competed across three different distances: the Granfondo (143.9 km), the Mediofondo (108.3 km), and the Minifondo (60.8 km). Despite rainy weather conditions that made some cobblestone sections difficult, the routes were completed as planned.

João Grilo, the Mayor of Alandroal, emphasized that the event serves as a tool for regional promotion, linking sports and adventure with local heritage and tourism. He noted that the influx of visitors has led to near-total occupancy in accommodations across the five participating municipalities.
