Granite Pointe golfers win regional Boyd-Haddad tournament

Nelson’s Granite Pointe golfers secured the Haddad title at the annual Boyd-Haddad tournament held on September 5 at the Birchbank Golf Course near Trail. The Granite Pointe Haddad team finished with a combined score of 15 strokes under par, narrowly defeating Kimberley by a single stroke.

The Haddad side winners included Frank Arabia, Dennis Langlois, and Ron Van Zanden. This victory marks the second time in three years that Granite Pointe has won the Haddad trophy. On the Boyd side, which tracks gross scores, the Granite Pointe team consisting of Keenan McPhail, Greg Mufford, and Jeff Langin was defeated by the Castlegar squad.

The regional tournament, which has featured players from eight different golf courses since the 1930s, included participants from Fernie, Cranbrook, Castlegar, Balfour, Kimberley, and Creston. Next year’s competition is scheduled to take place at the Fernie Golf Club.
