Granma authorities evaluate economic and social transformations

Authorities and economic actors in Granma, Cuba, are evaluating social and economic transformations aimed at updating the national economic model. These measures include increasing the autonomy of socialist state-owned enterprises, implementing new labor incentive mechanisms, and strengthening supply chains to improve food availability.

Key discussions involve integrating state and private sectors to optimize production and reduce losses. The provincial leadership, including First Secretary Yudelkis Ortiz Barceló and Governor Yanetsy Terry Gutiérrez, is working with the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba and the Asociación Nacional de Agricultores Pequeños to address financial and productive challenges.

A strategic goal is to establish absolute interdependence among the 13 municipalities of Granma to reduce reliance on external inputs and resolve bottlenecks in food distribution and manufacturing.
