Granma industries implement new technologies and private partnerships

In Granma, Cuba, agricultural and industrial sectors are implementing new strategies to boost productivity. The Empresa de Acopio, Beneficio y Torcido del Tabaco en Granma is training tobacco producers on new technologies, including seeders and pruners. These tools aim to increase efficiency, reduce physical labor, and improve seedling survival rates. The region aims to exceed a yield of 4 tons per hectare this year.

Simultaneously, the Empresa de Bebidas y Refrescos Granma is seeking to increase the production of beer, soft drinks, malts, and wines by collaborating with small and medium-sized private enterprises (mipymes). During an extraordinary management council meeting, the state-owned company discussed utilizing its technical capacities more efficiently and diversifying its product range to overcome current economic and productive obstacles.
