Grant Kirkhope expresses hope for new Banjo-Kazooie game

Grant Kirkhope, the composer for the Banjo-Kazooie series, has expressed increased optimism regarding the possibility of a new installment. While he previously stated there was “zero chance” of a sequel, he now believes there is a “slight chance” due to potential shifts in leadership at Rare.

Kirkhope noted that while he is aware of at least three companies that have physically pitched ideas for a new game to Microsoft or Rare, none have been successful so far. He suggested that Rare may be too busy to develop a new platformer in-house, but noted that modern Xbox leadership might be more open to discussing proven franchises.

Kirkhope expressed personal interest in returning to the project if it moves forward. Other studios, such as Toys for Bob, have also shown interest in the franchise. Kirkhope also mentioned that Day 4 Night Studios would be a good fit for such a project.
