Grant Morrison criticizes Lanterns series finale

DC Comics writer Grant Morrison has criticized the series finale of the DC Universe show ‘Lanterns’, describing the conclusion as “a morally and legally incoherent conclusion.”

In a newsletter, Morrison offered mixed feedback for the series. While praising the show’s effectiveness and the chemistry between leads Kyle Chandler (Hal Jordan) and Aaron Pierre (John Stewart), Morrison noted that the performances helped the series succeed despite comparisons to ‘True Detective’.

The criticism focused on the finale's plot development involving Sheriff Kerry, played by Kelly Macdonald. Morrison expressed difficulty accepting the narrative choice where John Stewart discovers Kerry is Hal Jordan’s killer but allows her to walk free, calling the lack of response to the character’s actions a “psychotic break” that was hard for the audience to reconcile.
