Grant Programs Fund Young Entrepreneurs in Guyana and United States
Fifteen young entrepreneurs in Guyana were awarded up to US$400,000 each through the Small Business Bureau’s Tertiary Entrepreneurship Award programme, a joint initiative of the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce and the Small Business Bureau. Minister Susan Rodrigues said the financing, complemented by support from the newly created Development Bank, will help graduates expand their businesses after completing a training course that saw 70 participants graduate.
In the United States, Simply Business and Sky’s the Limit announced the 2026 Big Dreams Grant winners, selecting five founders from more than 6,500 applicants. Each winner receives a US$5,000 non‑dilutive grant. Recipients include BirdieBlue of Vermont, which upcycles outdoor gear into bags, and KneadED NEO of Ohio, a worker‑owned bakery cooperative.
Both programmes aim to provide non‑equity capital to early‑stage companies, helping them cover inventory, hiring, certification or other immediate needs.
