Granvelle nursing home residents left without staff overnight

Residents of the Granvelle nursing home (Ehpad) in Besançon were left without staff for an entire night on August 8-9. During this period, elderly residents, some of whom are highly fragile, were unable to receive assistance when using call buttons.

The facility's director stated that preliminary analysis indicates the professionals scheduled for the night shift failed to report for duty. Families of the residents have formed a collective to protest the situation, citing chronic understaffing and systemic dysfunction. They have reported the incident to the Regional Health Agency (ARS) and the prefect, and are considering filing a formal complaint. The residence costs approximately 3,500 euros per month.
