Granville house explosion kills mother and son

A propane leak caused an accidental house explosion in Granville, Vermont, on Saturday night, resulting in the deaths of a mother and her son. The incident occurred at approximately 7:45 p.m. at a residence on Connecticut Trail.

Victims have been identified as 46-year-old Sarah O’Sullivan and 20-year-old Liam O’Sullivan. Liam was pronounced dead at the scene, while Sarah died after being transported to Gifford Medical Center in Randolph. Autopsies confirmed both died from blast-related injuries.

Three other adults were injured in the blast. Two sustained minor injuries, while 69-year-old Shiela Hammond remains in critical condition at an out-of-state medical facility. Investigators from the Department of Public Safety Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit determined the explosion was accidental and not suspicious.
