Graphic biography explores head and neck cancer experiences

A new graphic biography titled ‘Storie di vita, storie di cura. Testa-collo’ is set for release on September 25, 2026, through BeccoGiallo. The volume uses comic illustrations to narrate the experiences of four patients living with head and neck cancers.

The project, part of the ‘Graphic Anatomy’ series conceived by Stefano Ratti and Veronica Moretti of the University of Bologna, aims to combine scientific rigor with human storytelling. It builds upon a 2023 radio podcast produced by the Associazione Italiana di Oncologia Cervico Cefalica (AIOCC). The work features texts by psychologist and journalist Massimo Cirri, with illustrations by Ernesto Anderle and Davide Narducci. The initiative is linked to the ‘Make Sense Campaign,’ a European awareness program for head and neck cancers.
