Grasbrunn marks 30th 'Häusl bauen' festival as Brandenburg hosts a slate of local summer events

From 31 July to 2 August 2026, the Bavarian town of Grasbrunn celebrated the 30th edition of its annual "Häusl bauen" weekend. Organized by municipal council member and experiential educator Uli Hammerl, about 110 children built wooden huts, towers and even a ship on the former sports field, with roughly 20 of them spending the night in their creations. The event was attended by parents, local volunteers and Mayor Sebastian Stüwe, who inspected the site and thanked the organizers.

Meanwhile, across the country in South Brandenburg, a series of community activities were scheduled for August 2026. The village of Haasow marked its 490‑year anniversary with a three‑day celebration, while Proschim hosted a traditional village festival. Additional events included the reopening of the Wendish harvest game "Hahnrupfen" at the museum in Cottbus, road works affecting traffic on Muskauer Straße, and a DFB‑Pokal first‑round match between FC Energie Cottbus and FC Augsburg on 22 August. Local officials such as Ortsvorsteher Göran Richter also held public office hours during the month.
