Grasshopper Club Zürich celebrates 140th anniversary with victory and anthem return

Grasshopper Club Zürich (GC) celebrated its 140th anniversary with a 2-0 victory over FC St. Gallen at the Letzigrund stadium. The win marks the club's first victory of the season. Captain Amir Abrashi scored the opening goal in the 36th minute, ending a long scoring drought in the Super League.

In conjunction with the anniversary, the club announced the reinstatement of its unofficial anthem, ‘Das isch GC’. The song, originally created in 2022, was previously discontinued by former owners but is being brought back following requests from the fan community. The anthem will now be played at home matches 20 minutes before kickoff.
