Grassimesse 2026 to introduce new design newcomer category
The Grassimesse 2026 will introduce a new 'Design Newcomer' category aimed at supporting young talent in furniture design. The company smow, a long-time sponsor of the smow Design Contest, will cover the stand fees for six emerging designers to facilitate their entry into the premium furniture market.
Participants in the smow Design Contest can present prototypes, sketches, and concepts to a jury. The event will also feature the 'NeuesWagen,' a large truck located at the Grassimuseum entrance that serves as both an exhibition space and a laboratory for smart materials. These materials are designed to adapt to environmental changes such as light, temperature, or mechanical stress.
The Grassipreise awards ceremony will take place on the evening of October 22, 2026, with eight awards and a total prize pool of 15,000 euros. The main exhibition, featuring 88 stands, is scheduled for October 23 and 24, 2026.
