Gravas school complex evacuated in Athens over gas odor reports

The Gravas school complex in Athens was evacuated on Friday following reports of a strong gas odor. The evacuation, which included primary, middle, and high schools, was carried out as a precautionary measure to ensure student safety.

Local authorities, including the Municipalities of Athens and Galatsi, the Greek Fire Service, and the Hellenic Police, responded to the scene. While an initial inspection by Enaon EDA, the Greek gas distribution company, found no evidence of a leak, a second thorough inspection was conducted to rule out any potential danger.

Teachers and parents expressed significant concern, with some alleging that the odor had been present for several days, dating back to mid-September. Following the completion of technical checks, Enaon EDA officially announced that no gas leak or issues related to the distribution network were detected.
