Graylark Technologies develops AI to locate homes from interior photos
Graylark Technologies, an American AI laboratory, has developed a tool called Raven that can identify a property's exact address using only a single photograph taken from inside a room. Unlike previous geolocation tools that relied on exterior landmarks or GPS metadata, Raven analyzes internal visual details such as floor tile patterns, wall textures, furniture, and room layouts.
The software compares these interior characteristics against millions of real estate listings and short-term rental data from platforms worldwide to generate a list of potential matching addresses. While the technology is currently in beta, several American law enforcement agencies, including the LAPD and the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, have already purchased access to the tool.
Graylark founder Daniel Heinen states the technology is intended to assist in investigations such as combating human trafficking. However, the tool has drawn scrutiny; Zillow has noted that scraping its listings violates its terms of use, and Airbnb has denied any affiliation with the company.
