Grayscale launches world's first spot Zcash ETF

Grayscale has launched the world’s first spot exchange-traded fund (ETF) for Zcash (ZEC), trading on the NYSE Arca under the ticker ZCSH. The new product was created by converting the existing Grayscale Zcash Trust, which has been in operation for approximately nine years, into an ETF structure.

Zcash is a privacy-focused cryptocurrency that utilizes zero-knowledge proofs to allow users to selectively disclose or shield transaction details. Grayscale noted that Zcash shares several characteristics with Bitcoin, including a proof-of-work consensus mechanism and a maximum supply of 21 million coins. The firm positioned the asset as a potential competitor to Bitcoin’s market dominance, particularly as artificial intelligence increases the need for financial privacy against enhanced surveillance capabilities.

The fund carries an annual management fee of 2.5%. For at least the first 12 months, Grayscale intends to use a portion of this revenue to support the Zcash ecosystem and fund marketing activities. The launch follows a significant price rally for ZEC, which saw substantial gains leading up to the ETF's debut.
