Grayscale reports Bitcoin volatility is lower than 57% of S&P 500 companies

A new report from Grayscale Research indicates that Bitcoin's price volatility has decreased significantly as the asset matures. The firm's analysis shows that 57% of companies within the S&P 500 exhibit higher volatility than Bitcoin.

Bitcoin's one-year realized volatility is currently estimated at 43%. This represents a notable decline from its five-year average of 81% and its ten-year average of 64%. Grayscale attributes this stabilization to increased liquidity, broader institutional participation, and more regulated access venues.

While Bitcoin has historically been known for extreme price swings, the report suggests its current behavior is increasingly comparable to individual large-cap stocks. The research notes that the asset's maturation makes the primary investor concern shift from whether to own the asset to how to properly size an allocation.
