Graz derby security measures announced for Sturm vs GAK match

The Grazer derby between SK Sturm and GAK 1902 is set for Sunday, October 18, 2026, at Stadion Liebenau. Due to the high-profile nature of the match, extensive security measures and traffic restrictions have been announced. A police-mandated security zone will be in effect around the stadium from 10:00 to midnight. Additionally, Liebenauer Hauptstraße will be closed to traffic between 13:00 and 23:00. GAK fans are planning a march through the city starting at 14:00, which may cause delays for several public transit lines, including tram lines 4, 16, 23, and 66.

GAK coach Gerald Scheiblehner noted the intense atmosphere surrounding the derby but emphasized that it remains a football match. Meanwhile, in other regional sports, the Alps Hockey League sees a tight race for the top spot as Jesenice and Zell am See reach 21 points. In the Austrian 2. Liga, Austria Salzburg secured a 1-0 victory over Wacker Innsbruck in the Westderby, while First Vienna FC moved to the top of the table following a win in Voitsberg.
