Graz secures 3.9 million euros for green urban development

The City of Graz has secured nearly 3.9 million euros in funding for three major climate-oriented urban development projects. This includes the Tummelplatz, the Kaiserfeldgasse Green Mile, and the new Daungasse public park in the Lend district.

Approximately 3.1 million euros will be provided by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), with an additional 774,200 euros coming from the state of Styria. The remaining costs will be covered by the City of Graz. These initiatives aim to increase tree coverage, reduce sealed surfaces, and provide shade to combat urban heat. Vice Mayor Judith Schwentner emphasized that investing in green spaces and shade is a vital response to the climate crisis to ensure future livability in the city.
