Graz99ers secure first CHL victory against Storhamar Hamar
The Graz99ers secured their first victory in the Champions Hockey League (CHL) group stage with a 6-3 away win against Storhamar Hamar in Norway. The Austrian team established an early lead in the first period, scoring three goals within just 71 seconds through Kevin Conley, Clay Hanus, and Chris Collins.
Graz continued their momentum in the second period with goals from Erik Wittwer and Michael Schiechl, extending the lead to 5-0. Kevin Conley added a second goal later to make it 6-1. Although Storhamar Hamar attempted a comeback in the final period with two goals, the Graz99ers maintained their lead to finish the league phase on a high note.
Despite the on-ice success, the club faces financial uncertainty following the announced withdrawal of long-time sponsor Holding Graz, effective in spring 2027. General Manager Bernd Vollmann expressed concern regarding the club's future support.
