Grazalema celebrates annual festivals and honors emergency responders
The municipality of Grazalema is celebrating its Feria y Fiestas Mayores from August 21 to 24, marking a return to normalcy following a difficult winter. The festivities include concerts, bullfighting events, and religious ceremonies dedicated to the patron saint, Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles.
A central part of the celebrations is a collective tribute to the individuals and organizations that assisted during the severe storms in February. The Agencia de Emergencias de Andalucía was awarded the Medalla de la Villa for its leadership in the preventive evacuation of approximately 2,000 residents due to ground vibrations and leaks.
The municipalities of Ronda and Zahara de la Sierra also received the Medalla de la Villa for providing shelter to displaced families. Additionally, Honorable Mentions were awarded to various emergency services, including the Guardia Civil, UME, Red Cross, and local police, as well as scientific institutions like the Instituto Geológico y Minero de España for their technical support.
