Plaça Rovira i Trias wins Gràcia street decoration contest

Plaça Rovira i Trias has won first prize in the 2026 Gràcia street decoration contest with its theme ‘Batiscaforoviruskas’, an underwater journey inspired by the song by Antònia Font.

Other top honors include second place for Carrer Mozart with ‘L’hivernacle encantat’ and third place for Carrer Llibertat with ‘Argonath, Aranyerra i Mòrdor’. The jury also issued special awards for reuse at Plaça del Nord, innovation and technology at Placeta de Sant Miquel, and historical memory at Carrer Ciudad Real.

The award ceremony took place at Plaça de la Vila, involving 23 participating commissions representing various streets and squares in the neighborhood. The festivities have drawn thousands of visitors despite ongoing local debates regarding noise levels during the celebrations.
