Great American State Fair draws sparse crowd, prompting jokes on The View

The Freedom250‑styled Great American State Fair, held over the Fourth of July weekend to mark the United States' 250th anniversary, attracted a notably thin audience. Video from the event showed an almost empty lawn in front of the main stage, leading "The View" host Joy Behar to quip that more people had watched the Amazon MGM documentary "Melania" than attended the fair.

Guest host Michelle Buteau estimated the crowd at about 250 people—one per year of American history—while co‑host Sunny Hostin argued that thousands were actually present, just not visible on camera. Alyssa Farah Griffin suggested the low turnout stemmed from the fair's partisan association with the Trump administration and competition from other Fourth of July attractions in Washington, D.C.
