Great Britain leads team eventing at Aachen World Championships

Great Britain has established a commanding lead in the team competition at the 2026 FEI Eventing World Championship in Aachen following the cross-country phase. Entering the day with a narrow advantage, the British team finished the phase with 75.6 penalties, holding a 14.8-penalty lead over Germany, who sits in second with 90.4. Switzerland moved into third place with 106.5 penalties.

The individual competition remains highly competitive, with only 0.6 penalties separating the top three riders. Germany’s Michael Jung and fischerChipmunk FRH lead the field with 23.0 penalties. Britain’s Ros Canter and Lordships Graffalo are in second place with 23.4 penalties, followed closely by teammate Laura Collett and London 52 in third with 23.6 penalties.

The 5,600-metre course, designed by Giuseppe Della Chiesa, proved to be a significant challenge. Only six riders in the field managed to finish within the optimum time of 9 minutes and 50 seconds, though 53 combinations completed the course without jumping penalties. The competition moves into the final jumping phase on Sunday.
