European Athletics Championships conclude in Birmingham with relay records

The European Athletics Championships in Birmingham concluded with significant performances in relay events and individual finals.

In the women’s 4x100m relay, Great Britain set a new European Championship record with a time of 39.97 seconds. Germany took second place, followed by Spain in third. The women’s 4x400m relay saw the Netherlands claim gold with a season-best time of 3:21.10, while Great Britain secured silver and Italy took bronze.

The men’s 4x400m relay was won by Italy, with Great Britain finishing second and the Netherlands in third.

Individual highlights included Megan Keith finishing eighth in the women’s 10,000m and Jemma Reekie placing fifth in the 800m. In the men’s 1500m, Jake Wightman successfully progressed to the final. In the women’s race walking, Maria Perez set a world record during the half marathon event.
