Great Britain's SailGP team misses final at home Portsmouth Grand Prix

Team Emirates GBR, the reigning SailGP champions, failed to qualify for the final of their home Grand Prix in Portsmouth. In front of a 20,000‑strong crowd, the British boat placed fifth and sixth in its two group races, finishing bottom of Group B and eight points short of the four‑boat final. Spain’s Los Gallos won the event, while the USA and Sweden also progressed, leaving the British crew without a spot despite a brief surge in the second race.

Skipper Dylan Fletcher described the weekend as a “tough, tough day”, citing poor starts and a costly mistake at the leeward mark. Team chief executive Sir Ben Ainslie expressed disappointment, and the squad pledged to regroup and improve ahead of the season’s remaining races.
