Great Health New Future Forum explores AI and neuroscience integration
The ‘Great Health New Future Dual-Axis Forum’ was held on October 17 at Feng Chia University in Taichung, bringing together over 200 experts from industry, government, academia, and medicine. Organized by the Taiwan Advanced Democracy Association, the forum explored the integration of artificial intelligence (AI), neuroscience, robotics, and architecture to create human-centric healthy living environments.
Key technological advancements were presented, including the ‘AQ13’ app developed by National Taiwan University professors. This AI-driven tool simplifies mental health screening for children from 50 questions to 13, providing rapid, automated scoring to assist in early identification of neurodevelopmental risks. Additionally, researchers from the MIT Media Lab discussed ‘affective computing,’ which aims to use AI to interpret and visualize emotions for individuals with speech or cognitive impairments.
The forum also addressed the practical application of AI and robotics in addressing labor shortages and aging populations. Discussions covered the necessity of making robots emotionally perceptive and safe for daily use, as well as using data analysis to design ‘smart healthy communities’ that integrate medical care with architectural design to support dignity and social connection in elderly care.
