Great North Run celebrates 45th anniversary with community participants

The Great North Run is celebrating its 45th anniversary, highlighting various community participants in the North East region.

Elikem, a 22-year-old from Gateshead and founder of the Nonstopmotion run club, will participate in his first half marathon on September 13. He established the club to promote physical activity and support mental wellbeing through running.

In the Junior and Mini Great North Run events, 6-year-old Olivia Knaggs from Newcastle will compete in a 1.2km dash on September 12. She is participating to raise funds for a children’s charity that assists families facing financial hardship.
