Great Wall Motors adds plug‑in hybrid and long‑wheelbase version to Tank 300 SUV

Great Wall Motors (GWM) has expanded the Chinese‑market Tank 300 lineup with a new long‑wheelbase 300L version and two plug‑in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains, the flagship Hi4‑Z and the updated Hi4‑T. The 300L stretches the wheelbase to 3010 mm and overall length to 4886 mm, raising ground clearance to 235 mm and approach angle to 38°. Both hybrids retain the mechanical four‑wheel‑drive system.

The Hi4‑Z combines a 2.0‑litre turbo‑charged petrol engine (180 kW/380 Nm) with front and rear electric motors (180 kW/400 Nm and 200 kW/415 Nm) for a combined 560 kW and 1195 Nm, claiming 0‑100 km/h in 4.3 s and up to 200 km electric range from a 59.6 kWh battery. The Hi4‑T delivers 310 kW and 750 Nm, 0‑100 km/h in 6.1 s and about 105 km electric range from a 37.1 kWh battery. The standard Tank 300 continues with its existing 2.4‑litre turbo‑diesel (135 kW/480 Nm) and petrol options; GWM Australia is phasing out petrol variants and has not confirmed when the Hi4‑Z will be offered locally. The larger Tank 500 will receive a new 3.0‑litre turbo‑diesel (170 kW/620 Nm) in Australia later this year.
