Great Wall Motors details new Tank 300L PHEV off‑roader, Australian launch still pending

Great Wall Motors (GWM) has unveiled specifications for the Tank 300L, a stretched, plug‑in hybrid (PHEV) off‑road SUV. The model features a Hi4‑Z powertrain with a 2.0‑litre turbo‑charged engine, a 59.6 kWh ternary‑lithium battery and electric motors on each axle (180 kW front, 200 kW rear), delivering a combined 560 kW (1 195 Nm) and a 0‑100 km/h time of 4.3 seconds. GWM claims an electric‑only range of about 200 km (WLTC) and a fuel consumption as low as 0.85 L/100 km at minimal state of charge.

The Tank 300L measures 4 886 mm in length on a 3 010 mm wheelbase, gaining a higher ground clearance (235 mm) and retaining approach/departure angles of 38°/33°. It adds a LiDAR unit, three millimetre‑wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars and 11 cameras, supporting Level 2 autonomous driving via a Navigation on Autopilot system, night‑vision thermal imaging, and an upgraded 15.6‑inch touchscreen running Coffee OS 3.0. The interior remains largely unchanged from the Chinese version launched last year.

GWM Australia confirmed that the Tank 300L is currently a domestic‑market release only and has not announced a launch date or details on which Hi4‑Z‑equipped variant will be imported.

The announcement highlights GWM’s push to expand its hybrid SUV lineup in the Australian market, though official availability remains uncertain.
