Great white shark activity warning issued for Hunter coast
Shark fisherman Joel Nancarrow has issued a warning regarding increased great white shark activity along the Hunter and Mid North coasts of New South Wales. Nancarrow, who operates the Hunter Shark Jaw Restoration page, stated that unusually warm and fast-moving ocean currents are concentrating sharks into smaller areas closer to local beaches.
According to Nancarrow, the current arrived more rapidly than usual this year, forcing sharks to move within a tighter timeframe. He noted that the water is significantly hotter and the currents are stronger than typical for October. The warning covers a coastal stretch from Port Macquarie through Port Stephens, Newcastle, and the Central Coast to Sydney, with the Hunter coast identified as a primary area of concern. He anticipates seeing multiple great white sharks near beaches daily while these specific environmental conditions persist.
