Great white shark attacks seal near Nantucket beach

A great white shark was filmed attacking and consuming a seal near Great Point Beach in Nantucket on a Sunday morning. The incident was captured by local resident Carrie Drayton, who observed the predator feeding just feet from the seashore.

Fisheries scientist Gregory Skomal noted that while the proximity to land was striking, the shark's behavior is not cause for alarm. He explained that sharks frequently migrate through Nantucket and that the seals at Great Point serve as a viable food source for the predators.
