Greater Bay Area Youth Martial Arts Events Highlight Taekwondo and Wushu
The 2026 Guangdong‑Hong Kong‑Macao Greater Bay Area Youth Taekwondo Series concluded on August 2 at the Liwan Sports Hall in Guangzhou. The competition, open to participants from infancy to adulthood, featured six disciplines—including forms, sparring, breaking, electronic racing, parent‑child and team events—and attracted teams from Hong Kong and Macau. Organisers said the event aims to create a standardized platform for martial‑arts exchange and to support cultural integration across the Bay Area.
A separate Wushu championship, the sixth Greater Bay Area Wushu Champion Competition, was held at Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Sports Park. Over 800 athletes from Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Zhongshan and Jiangmen took part. Hong Kong competitors such as Yu Peilin and Mo Wan Ying won multiple titles and highlighted the tournament as preparation for the upcoming Asian Games, where they will represent Hong Kong in taekwondo and wushu events.
